Two weeks ago I caught myself doing the same thing every morning. Open Chloe, my AI chief of staff, and tell her to pull the day’s priority. Open Claude Code, tell it to run the build step. Open ChatGPT, hand it the research. Three tabs, three little nudges, and then I sat there like a traffic cop waving each one through.
Somewhere around the fourth morning it hit me. The processes were built. The requirements were written. Every one of those jobs had a document behind it that I had already sweated over. The only thing left in the chain that needed a human was my finger on the start button.
So I took my finger off. One task, one morning, on its own.
The AI Move
Everyone wants the autonomous agent. The thing is, the agent is the last rung on a ladder, and most of the pain people blame on AI comes from skipping rungs. Here is the ladder the way I climbed it.
My first one runs one task a day. It sends me a Slack message when it has a question and stops if it hits anything it was not told about. One task, with a leash. That is what autonomous looks like at the start.
Find your rung this week and climb one.
This week’s prompt
Paste this into AI. It will find which rung you are on for one process and hand you the exact next step.
ROLE: You are an operations consultant who helps solo business owners automate without skipping steps.
CONTEXT: Automation readiness runs on six rungs. 1: I can do the process by hand the same way every time. 2: It is written down. 3: The write-up is clear enough for someone else to follow without asking me anything. 4: The repeatable part is a saved skill or template that AI runs when I ask. 5: It runs on a schedule without me starting it. 6: An agent picks it up, does it, and reports back, stopping when something falls outside its instructions.
REQUEST: Ask me to describe one process in my business I want to hand off, then ask up to five questions to place me on the ladder. Tell me which rung I am on, what proves it, and the single next step to reach the next rung, with a time estimate. If I am on rung 1 or 2, write the first draft of the process document from my answers.
If you want company while you climb, the Unstoppable Community opens in Q1 2027 and the waitlist is open now at theunstoppableai.com/community. Early names decide what gets built first.
